Community Connections LLC and Colorado Preservation Inc (CPI) are hosting International Archaeology Day 2024 at Red Rocks Park! This has been an ongoing FREE public event for the past 12 years! Anyone interested in history and archaeology is welcome! With the help of multiple sponsors like Denver Museum of Nature and Science this is one of Colorado's biggest public archaeology events!
Last year we welcomed over 1000 attendees; 30+ booths and tables all about archaeology culture and history; on-site tours of 5 cultural sites; and 3 professional speakers!
Exhibitors: Booths and tables will be set up with multiple activities around history, culture and archaeology for kids and adults of all ages. See a LIVE tipi demonstration and earth watercolor display from the Northern Arapaho check out local artifacts and learn all about the amazing resources we have in Colorado and abroad in Israel and Egypt! Tours: This year there will once again be offering FREE ranger-led tours of Red Rocks Park a tour of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp, tours of Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave, Lamb Spring Archaeological Preserve and activities at Roxborough State Park.
Speakers: Presentations will be held in a covered three-sided tent with seating. Our speakers for 2024 are still being decided upon for the event. Check back later for updates!
Food and beverage: Two food trucks will be available on-site. A small beer garden for attendees 21+ will be available within a secure area.
Location: This event will be held outside in Lower South Parking Lot #2. Limited shelter will be provided in the presentation tent but please be sure to prepare appropriately for an outdoor event. Parking and restroom facilities are available on-site.
