Join NBNC Naturalist and Wildlife Tracker Dave Muska in this full day winter tracking course designed to further develop the skills of individuals familiar with the basics of wildlife tracking. In this course, participants will move beyond the basics and dive just a little bit deeper into the vast and exciting world of wildlife tracking. We’ll discuss the natural history and behavior of local organisms to better understand and interpret animal tracks and sign. We’ll examine the movement of animals to incorporate gait analysis and track pattern interpretation into our tracking processes. We’ll learn how to properly measure tracks and gait patterns as well as how and when to use those measurements most effectively.Participants will leave this course with
-A greater understanding of animal track and sign in winter.
-A greater understanding of animal gaits and track patterns and how to interpret them.
-Skills, resources, and practices to further develop tracking abilities.
