Intermediate - Upcycling Sewing Machine One Day Workshop

This is an intermediate sewing day and together with your sewing machine we shall explore upcycling fabrics.

This day is for those who are confident using their sewing machine but would like to explore upcycling and living more sustainably. You may have completed Beginners with me previously, however, if you are usure whether you are skilled enough for this class, please contact me.

The 5-hour day (half an hour is allowed for lunch and a bit of time either end of the day for set up and clear up) is held in a room in Shenley Leisure Centre where we have plenty of space to learn and make. This workshop is all about immersing yourself in the joy of creativity, ditching perfectionism and embracing the fun of creating. Steph has over 35 years of experience with sewing and making things and is keen to share her love of making and creating, so please join her for the chance to learn, make and grow.

• You will explore sewing with upcycled fabrics, using velvets and decorative trims.

• I will teach you to make a tassel.

• You will make a lined evening clutch bag with a zip.

• You will also make a Christmas stocking.

• Steph will guide you through every step in this relaxed, informal and fun class.

• Sewing machine (please ensure it works. If you don't have a sewing machine, it may be possible to rent one from me but please contact me first to confirm).

• Pen and pencil.

• Notebook.

• Hand sewing needles and some pins.

• Thread - white will do for most items we'll make on the day but bring other colours if you have them.

• Sharp scissors, preferably a small pair and a large pair for cutting out fabric.

There is a bar/cafe on site to get tea and coffee, plus a cafe nearby for drinks and lunch too. The supermarket is about 5 mins walk away should you wish to purchase your lunch, or you might want to bring a packed lunch with you.

There is ample free parking nearby in the Shenley Leisure Center carpark around the back of the building.
