About this Event

“My soul is fed with needle and thread”

This is an Intermediate day of sewing with your sewing machine.

Who is this day for?

This day is for for those who are confident using their sewing machine but would like to explore sewing by using different fabrics in one project and try more complicated sewing. You may have done my Beginners Sewing day or you might also want to be part of social sewing and enjoy the fun of creating with a group of like minded people.

What will I make during the day?

The 5 hour day day (half an hour is allowed for lunch and a bit of time either end of the day for set up and clear up) is held in a room in Westbury Arts Centre where we will have plenty of space to learn and make.

The fabrics you will explore are sewing with two different fabrics in one project. All printed fabrics are designed by Steph. In the morning you will make a felt storage trug and in the afternoon you will learn how to sew a buttonhole and make a travel sewing/jewellery wrap. Steph will guide you through every step in this relaxed, informal and fun class.

This workshop is about immersing yourself in the joy of creativity, ditching perfectionism and embracing the fun of creating. Steph has over 35 years experience of sewing and making things and is keen to share her love of making and creating so please join her for the chance to learn, make and grow.

Steph provides everything you need but bring the following to class:
  • Sewing machine (kindly ensure it works. If you don't have a sewing machine, it may be possible to rent one from me but please contact me first to confirm).
  • Pencil and pen.
  • Notebook
  • Hand sewing needles and some pins
  • Thread, white will do for most items we make on the day but bring other colours if you have them.
  • Sharp scissors, preferably a small pair and a large pair for cutting out fabric.

Refreshments
