Have some experience but need some help working through the kinks? Flint knapping is an incredibly rewarding skill but it is also a super challenging skill to master. Having good teachers to help you on your journey is a must and it can help you make major leaps forward in your skill and ability to. This class is designed for those who already have had an introduction to flint knapping and have at least some basic experience under their belt.

Topics that we’ll cover in this class include:

-Quick review of the basics and proper techniques
-Exploring common problems that people run into while knapping
-Addressing specific issues each student is having
-Direct percussion techniques
-Indirect percussion techniques
-Pressure flaking
-Finishing skills such as final thinning, pre-forming, notching, hafting
-Materials acquisition and preparation (i.e. soaking, heat treating, etc.)

NOTE: This course requires that participants either have already taken the Earth Native Flint Knapping class or another similar introductory course with another outdoor school, OR have some basic experience, understanding, and knowledge of Flint Knapping prior to class.
Ages: This is an adult class but open to ages 15+.
