NEW CLASS! Intermediate Level Coffee Roasting.
Join us at the Buckman Coffee Factory for a hands-on, practical experience to explore the fundamentals of coffee roasting, developed for students with some prior roasting experience.
This hands on course builds on the fundamentals of coffee roasting and gives participants the chance to further explore roast profile concepts using roasting software. Additional topics such green coffee procurement and quality assurance are also introduced.
Participants will spend most of the day roasting on coffee roasters, so if participants haven’t taken the Buckman introductory level course, it’s recommended that they’ve roasted coffee before.
Instructor Mike Nelson has worked in the coffee industry as a barista, consultant, roaster, trainer, and company co-owner with various specialty coffee companies in the US and abroad.
He combined his love of scientific research and coffee by focusing his graduate research on climate change and coffee, and holds an MSc in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science and an MSc in Geography.
