7:30-9pm Monday nightsMarch. 9, 16, 23, 30
Instructors: Sara Hughes & Candra Marr
$20 per class (cash or e-transfer), $80 for series. You may pay as you go.
Message me (Sara Hughes) to register ahead of time to get the exact address. Please let me know if you need to cancel as we only have space for about 8 people.
Classes will ideally build on each other, but you do not necessarily have complete earlier ones to take the next. Single day drop-ins allowed if there's space, but please still send me a message.
At least some prior blues dance experience is required.
If you have less experience, please consider taking classes in order (especially pulse & groove first).
Topics:
March 9: Pulse and Groove
How to look and feel like a Blues pro. What makes Blues dance look like Blues dance and how do I make my movements feel bluesy? How to connect with your partner with different types of pulses.
March 16: Slow Drag
All about dancing slow and close embrace. The subtlety, connection and squish.
March 23: Connection
Blues has a flexibility of connection that allows for more individuality, but how do we stay connected even when we're doing different movements?
March 30: Musicality
There are as many styles of blues dance as there are styles of blues music...how do I know what styles to dance to this song?
Listening, call and response, hitting the breaks - bringing the music and our partner together.
Location (PLEASE READ):
I will send people the exact address when registering (sending me a message). It's in Marpole area of Vancouver. There is lots of street parking in the area and buses.
I do NOT have a buzzer to let people in, so I ask that people please show up promptly by 7:30pm, so someone can run to the door and let people in. Send a message (or call if I don't respond-messenger sometimes doesn't go through) and someone will come get you.
