About this Event

CAT SPARKS is an award-winning author, editor and artist, with a PhD in Creative Writing and expertise in speculative fiction and climate change. Cat has been the editor of Cosmos Magazine, the manager of Agog! Press, an award-winning photographer and graphic-designer, and the director of the NSW Writers' Centre's Speculative Fiction Festival.

The interlocutor for this event is Assemblage member and Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Flinders University, DR LISA BENNETT, who is also an award-winning author of speculative fiction under the name LISA L. HANNETT. The conversation will explore questions of transformative storytelling, through speculative fiction, fictions of climate change, and the arc of Cat's career, as well as her creative process.

Interlocutor is a series of discussions featuring major artists working across a wide array of creative fields. There will be four of these discussions across 2022. In each conversation the guest artist will engage in critical discussion with the creative arts researchers of Flinders University. Interlocutor is an opportunity to delve deep into a number of creative domains and hear from some of the most outstanding leaders in their respective fields.
