Course Description:
This course provides an introduction to the theories, principles and practices of Chinese medicine pediatrics, primarily from an integrative medicine perspective. Topics covered include child development, assessment, and the treatment/management of common childhood disorders using acutherapy techniques, herbal medicine, nutrition, parental/caregiver education, and integrative approaches.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Articulate how the care of a pediatric patient is different from the care of adults.
- Identify common TCM disease and disharmony patterns seen in a pediatric patient population.
- Apply a range of age-appropriate clinical care techniques.
- Describe the role of integrative medicine in the care of pediatric patients.
- Communicate more effectively with children/parents/caregivers about health and wellness.
- Utilize a trauma-informed care model to create superior outcomes.

About the instructor
Robyn Adcock is a Doctor of Chinese Medicine who specializes in integrative pediatric medicine at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals. She provides inpatient and ambulatory care for patients from birth through young adult, and focuses on pain management, palliative care and clinical research.
Dr. Adcock has created many successful health and wellness programs at UCSF for patients and staff using the tools of Chinese medicine.
Dr. Adcock also serves as executive director and CEO of CSOMA, California’s leading acupuncture association, where she helps guide the fast-growing profession of Chinese medicine at both state and national levels through legislative policy work, public education programs and inter-professional networking.
Adcock has studied and taught martial arts, dance, yoga and massage for more than 30 years.

- All requests for refund must be approved- Cancellations made at least 7 calendar days prior to the first class day will receive a full refund minus $40.00 administrative fee, eventbrite fees are adjusted separately.
-No refunds will be given for cancellation made less than 7 days prior to first day of the course.- ACTCM is unable to transfer course fees paid for one seminar or course to any other seminar or course
- In the unlikely event that ACTCM has to cancel a course due to insufficient enrollment, or for some other unforeseen reasons, registrants will receive a full refund.
