
About this Event
Presenters will introduce participants to the therapeutic powers of play and explain the developmental rationale for utilizing play therapy with older children and teenagers. Participants will learn creative interventions designed to engage tweens and teens in therapy and more effectively collaborate with their caregivers. This will be an interactive, experiential training, and participants will have multiple opportunities for hands-on practice. You should come prepared to play!
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the therapeutic powers of play and understand how they act as agents of change in therapy with clients of all ages
- Describe the developmental rationale for utilizing play therapy with tweens and teenagers
- Facilitate at least 2 play therapy interventions with tween and teen clients experiencing a variety of mental health concerns
- Implement strategies for effectively collaborating with caregivers of tween and teen clients
- Facilitate at least 1 family play therapy intervention with tween and teen clients and their caregivers
- Develop increased self-awareness regarding the challenges of working with tweens, teens, and their caregivers
