About this Event

The career workshop is designed to provide resources and guidance for the under-represented/black youth in Calgary seeking to enhance their employment opportunities, build valuable skills, and empower themselves for success. Each session will cover essential topics such as youth employment strategies, volunteering for career advancement, resume writing techniques, and effective job search strategies. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in interactive discussions, receive expert advice, and network with peers and industry professionals.


Activities:

Week 1: April 6th

Youth Employment Strategies Description:

Learn about the various employment opportunities available for youth, explore different career paths, and discover strategies for securing meaningful employment.


Week 2: April 13th

Volunteering for Career Advancement :

Understand the benefits of volunteering for career development, learn how to leverage volunteer experience to enhance your resume, and explore opportunities for volunteering in Calgary.


Week 3: April 20th

Resume Writing Workshop :

Gain valuable insights into effective resume writing techniques, learn how to tailor your resume to specific job opportunities, and receive personalized feedback on your resume.


Week 4: May 4th

Job Search Strategies

Discover effective job search strategies, learn how to utilize online resources and networking to uncover job opportunities, and receive tips for navigating the job market successfully.


Grand Finale Event: May 11th

Celebrate the completion of the workshop series with a grand finale event featuring guest speakers, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and recognition of participants' achievements. Participants will have the chance to showcase their newly acquired skills and celebrate their journey towards empowerment and success.
