A field day to learn about managing seed crops as part of a diversified market farm.
About this Event

Cochrane Family Farm is a certfied organic, 30-acre, family owned and operated farm in Upper Stewiacke, NS. In addition to offering an extensive catalogue of organic, open pollinated seeds, Frank, Lisa, and family grow veggies and fresh herbs for their CSA, farm store, and retail partners, and they produce dozens of medicinal and herbal, value-added products. During this fall farm tour we'll take a look at their freshly harvested seed crops and learn about post-harvest processes, see some biennial seed crops in the greenhouse, and hear from Frank about how he manages seed crops alongside horticultural crops for a diversity of purposes, and utilizes multiple sales channels to make it all work.

This fied day is designed for market farmers and vegetable growers with horticultural experience, and seed growers.
