About the day workshop: During this workshop participants will expolre how to create plates using intaglio dypoint techniques- mark making using intaglio tools, scratching into the card plates.
Incorporating elements of collagraph which adds texture and depth, participants will learn how to print their plate using chine colle; where thin coloured paper is sandwiched between an inked up plate and the paper. The results can be stunning, a quick way of adding colour and texture, with the ink from the image on top.
Who is the course for? The classes are suitable for all abilities, including beginners
What will you make? Participants will create a series of prints on paper using the same plate, developed with intglio dypoint with some collagraph, and chine colle. Led by experienced printmaker Joanna Allen, she will guide you through and introduce you to these printmaking techniques over the day course.
What will I need to bring?
All materials and equipment will be provided.
You may want to bring some ideas, imagery or reference material to create an image from.
Please wear old clothes as printing can get messy. Aprons will be provided.
You may want to bring a packed lunch and your own water bottle. Teas, coffees and biscuits are provided.
About the tutor
Joanna Allen is an Artist, Printmaker and Textile Designer based in the High Peak, with a Degree in Printed Textiles and Art and Design PGCE, both from Manchester Metropolitan University. Joanna is a member of Peak District Artisans. As well as teaching in schools and running art classes Joanna has been running her friendly collagraph print workshops for over 18 years.
