About this Event
Learn to use the Praga etching press! This workshop will explore simple intaglio techniques of engraving and drypoint on Plexiglas plates, easy and quick for the beginner to learn. It is recommended to bring a 5×7 image to work with for the class. The intaglio process involves building up a black-and-white image through inscribed lines, patterns and scratches. (Note: If you would like to include text, you will probably want to flip the image so it reads backwards, like in a mirror.) Attendees will learn to prepare their plates, work with a burin and etching needle, how to ink and wipe their plates, adjusting the press for printing, and how to properly pull a proof. There’s a bit of a learning curve with intaglio, so just prepare to experiment and play! More info here
