About this Event
Located in Scarborough, the Rouge NUP is a wildlife and nature refuge right here in our city's "backyard". Starting from Meadowvale Rd. - near the Toronto Zoo - we will hike four different trails alongside the Rouge River and the Little Rouge Creek.
Optional bus transportation from Downtown Toronto (Yonge and Bloor) by private shuttle - shared with other passengers - is available. You may also drive or carpool and meet the group at destination. An event fee applies to all participants. See details below.
The hike is challenging with lots of steep hills, so this hike will be for intermediate to advanced-level hikers. Not suitable for first time hikers. We will go at a moderate pace and take small breaks about once an hour. Length: 14 km.
- EVENT CATEGORY: Guided Hike - Scenic
- DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Intermediate -- Recent experience hiking 12 km or more required.
- MODE OF TRAVEL: Chartered Bus* (yellow school bus).
- TOTAL HIKING TIME: 5.5-6.0 hours hiking including lunch and breaks, depending on overall group pace.
- WHAT TO BRING: Water (at least 2 L), a packed LUNCH, snacks, appropriate clothing and footwear, hat, camera, cellphone, cash for personal expenses, enthusiasm.
- POST-EVENT: TBD.
- WEATHER POLICY: In the event of hazardous weather conditions, this trip will be cancelled or rescheduled. The hike leader will monitor the weather forecast and notify all registered members at least 24 hours in advance to confirm or cancel the event (in the event of a light shower or light wind, the trip will NOT be cancelled.)

Meet our group at the bus pickup location above NO LATER than 8:30 AM. You will read and sign a waiver form and then board the bus at 8:45 AM. The hike will start when we arrive at destination, around 10:00 AM

- BY BUS : The pickup location for our chartered bus is outside the Toronto Reference Library at 789 Yonge St, Toronto (Yonge & Bloor TTC Station).
- BY CAR: Meet our group at destination. Location details/directions will be emailed to you once you sign up on this site.
