Be inspired by the beautiful grounds at Forty Hall this spring.Join local artist Claire Bevacqua for a ceramics workshop drawing inspiration from nature.
Take time observing the natural world and engage in mindful making. Collect found objects on a group walk within the Forty Hall Estate to incorporate into your ceramics. Capture the changing season by making impressions in clay and combining found materials in the finished work. Learn hand building techniques and decorate with slips, oxides and underglazes. Explore mark making, texture and experiment with masking.
During this workshop you will:
- Walk in the grounds. Spend mindful time in nature.
-Press flowers, leaves, bark into clay to create varied textures and impressions.
-Create a ceramic dish/tray or wall hanging.
-Colour with slips, underglazes or oxides.
All work will be fired and glazed in Claire's studio and will be ready to pick up at Forty Hall 2-3 weeks after the course.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers. (Ages 15 up)
There will be a break midway to get coffee and snacks from the Cedar Tree cafe or bring your own.
Please wear suitable footwear and appropriate outdoor clothing. Bring an apron or clothes that you do not mind getting clay on!
