About this Event
In the UK the percentage of working age adults with a learning disability in employment is 5.9%. In Birmingham it is 1.3%. The mission of the Inspire for Higher Employer Networking Group is to raise the dial on this shocking statistic by empowering Birmingham employers and providers to commit to levelling up their careers offer in schools and colleges and improving local outcomes for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in the city.
We are doing this by creating a supportive, learning environment where employers and providers of all shapes and sizes can feel empowered to take the next step towards providing inclusive career development opportunities for young people with SEND and support them to achieve positive and purposeful career outcomes.
The Inspire for Higher Employer Networking Group founding members - Severn Trent, Jacobs, HS2, Wilmott Dixon, HSBC, Birmingham City Council, National Grid, Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Birmingham Careers Hub - invite other employers in the city to either join as founding members of the group and/or to attend the second event taking place on Wednesday 1st December 2021.
