About this Event
Join us for an intimate evening to slow down as we enter Lent. We are grateful to be led by Dr. Dean Pinter, Canon of Theology at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, with music by Lowana Wallace. We will provide dinner at 6 p.m. followed by Dean leading a discussion on the meaning of Lent and different ways to create during this season.
Dean Pinter is the Canon Theologian at the Cathedral Church of the Advent. He moved to Birmingham in January 2024 with his wife, Darlene, from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. While in Moose Jaw, he served for 12 years as the parish priest for St. Aidan Anglican Church. Prior to serving in pastoral ministry, Dean was a professor of New Testament in Canada and Lithuania. He studied at Regent College (Vancouver, Canada) and Durham University (England). Dean is passionate about cultivating the creative life, whether that be in a vegetable garden or the parish.
Lowana Wallace is a Canadian singer-songwriter. In November 2024, she and her family moved to Birmingham where she now serves as the contemporary music leader at the Cathedral Church of the Advent. Lowana released a self-titled album in 2005, and the Christmas album Hymns & Carols in 2009. After taking a long break from recording, she released a single entitled “Home” in 2022. She has studied worship, music and liturgy and earned a master’s degree from the Institute for Worship Studies in Jacksonville, Florida. Over the past few years, she has collaborated with The Porter’s Gate Worship Project, co-writing the songs “Day By Day”, “Your Work is Happening Here”, and “Forever (Psalm 27)”.
