About the Programme:
In Hugo’s Journey, Hugo the hedgehog sets off on a daring journey to the Arctic in search of a powerful unicorn. Along the way, Hugo encounters several characters, and these experiences leave him with deep rooted lessons on how to navigate life’s challenges with grace and resilience.

Writer Toh Ee Ming and illustrator How Kah Hwee share about the creative process of creating their self-published book from concept to print, their own journey and challenges of navigating the freelance path and their ethos of inspiring wonder in the world.
About the Speakers:
Ee Ming is a freelance journalist and writer who is passionate about social issues. Her stories have been published globally on news outlets like the Associated Press, Al Jazeera, South China Morning Post, The Straits Times, Channel NewsAsia, and more.

In the last decade, Ee Ming has written about endangered vultures deep in the Himalaya, Malaysia’s hidden gambling epidemic and digital literacy programmes for its refugee population, Sweden's 24-hour childcare for single mothers and shift workers, Finland’s creative senior living models, heritage preservation projects in Cambodia, slow living and natural dyeing in Yunnan, and Peru’s potato guardians.

Her work has earned her multiple awards, including being recognised by the International Journalists' Network. She most recently completed her debut documentary film ‘Lady!’ which charts the story of a devoted wife who wrestles to reclaim her sense of self as early onset dementia robs her husband’s identity.

How Kah Hwee is the creator behind inwarmregard. Throughout a decade of studying and working in accountancy, she had always felt some sense of misalignment.

To unwind and satisfy the need for self-expression, she found herself dabbling in various crafts over those years. It slowly revealed to her that perhaps, she could try to live by design, to create a life that she finds meaningful.

Started in 2022, Inwarmregard has become a canvas for her to create stories about her world and a medium to connect with one of her favourite things - animals.

As you follow along animals from around the world - scruffy or fluffy, thriving or threatened, big or small, watch as these delightful stories slowly unfold.
