About this Event
This hands-on workshop invites participants inside the creative process behind The 7th Voyage of Egon Tichy, a hybrid science-fiction comedy in which a single performer acts alongside dozens of live and pre-recorded versions of himself. Led by Theater in Quarantine founder Joshua William Gelb, the session explores how devised performance techniques can be extended, complicated, and activated through technology.
Exercises draw from Gelb’s practice of performing in confined digital environments, using cameras to construct illusions of gravity, scale, and time as the performer’s body is split across live, delayed, and duplicated forms. Rather than emphasizing technical mastery, the workshop treats technology as a compositional constraint, asking how limitation, repetition, and mediation can generate new theatrical language.
Be sure to see in Titmus Theatre, February 19-21, presented by NC State LIVE. Participants will receive one free ticket to the Friday or Saturday performance. Not valid for previously purchased tickets.
