2) BROWNMAN ALI Plays MILES DAVIS
Thr-Jun-20, 7:00pm: This special permutation of the BROWNMAN AKOUSTIC 4-TET -- featuring local Kingston rising star pianist Paul Morrison -- will take the stage, led by Brownman Ali on trumpet, who has handpicked assorted tunes from Miles' ubiquitous career. You'll hear samplings of Miles' tenure with Charlie Parker, tunes from his time on the Prestige label with the 1st Great Quintet, through to Kind of Blue, and onward into the 2nd Great Quintet, and some tastes of his electric period. "We'd need a whole week to get through all the various incredible twists and turns of Miles' long career, so tonight we're just going to give Kingston a sampling over 2 sets", states Ali.

"Miles Davis... whose haunting tone and ever-changing style made him an elusive touchstone of jazz for four decades"
- New York Times
"Miles Davis played a crucial and inevitably controversial role in every major development in jazz since the mid-'40s, and no other jazz musician has had so profound an effect on music... Miles was the most widely recognized jazz musician of his era, an outspoken social critic and an arbiter of style -- in attitude and fashion -- as well as music."
