Welcome to the fourth of a series of 6 living room talks every fortnight at MoveSpace to help you develop your musical toolkit. If you’re keen to learn more about the Ins & Outs of social media this is THE panel for you.
Meet the Panellists!
Mazbou Q is a UK-born, Tāmaki Makaurau based Nigerian artist, producer, content creator and educator.
Stemming from his background in classical, heavy metal and West African Highlife, Mazbou Q's particular brand of Hiphop pushes the boundaries of the genre and captivates those with a deep appreciation for musicality.
Subsequent to the release of his 2021 full length album ‘THE FUTURE WAS.’, Mazbou Q became a viral sensation on Tiktok. Branded as ‘The Rap Scientist’, he has amassed close to 130,000 followers analyzing and dissecting various rhyme and rhythmic techniques used in hit rap songs. Covering music theory concepts like syncopation, polymetric rhythms, displacement and micro-rhythms, Mazbou Q is being lauded for illuminating the musical complexity of a genre often mistakenly not considered as such.
Mazbou Q is also the lead producer in Auckland-based audio production house UNCHAINED XL Production Co. and has worked with brands such as ESPN, Footlocker and Les Mills.
Having solidified himself as both a musical powerhouse and effective communicator, Mazbou Q continues to challenge and inspire his audiences through the various channels of his creativity.

Reshma Martin is a Malaysian/Kiwi powerhouse pop/alt pop singer and songwriter. Born in Kuala Lumpur and raised in Taranaki, she began her professional music career in 2016 after appearing on the final season of Malaysian singing competition Akademi Fantasia.

Jemilah Ross-Hayes is a Musician, music journalist and general everything enthusiast who is always up for a good convo, any kind of asian food and stellar live music. Although she is a Waihekian at heart, she is a sucker for a new experience and left the comforts of home to travel the world for eight months after high school. Coming back in 2019 to pursue a bachelor of music at Auckland University, she has been living in Auckland city for the last year and has been sticking her toes in all doors since. A lover of putting her thoughts into words she writes articles and reviews for NZ Musician Magazine and the 13th Floor about all things music. Alongside creating and performing her own music under “Jemilah” she is 1/4 of indie pop band Marmalade and both projects are due to release music soon. You might recognise her face from the 13th Floors Uptown Lowdown show she hosts with bandmate/flatmate/co-host Koen Aldershof or from some corner of Movespace as she is on the board of directors for Halfway down studios, plus, it is basically her second home.
