Innovations in Safe Patient Handling featuring Paraglide Repositioning System
Manually repositioning a person in a wheelchair can cause injury to caregivers.
The old "grab them by the pants" method is outdated and often results in staff lifting more weight than they should.
This 2-hour workshop will allow participants to use the Paraglide and ask questions about this innovative product. Paraglide is ideal for patients, residents and clients who are unable to reposition themselves manually.
Key Features of Paraglide
- Easily attaches to pre-existing wheelchairs
- Will reposition a person weighing up to 550 lbs
- Resets after each use, allowing free movement throughout the day
- Battery-powered (rechargeable)
- Weighs less than 10lbs and is easy to carry and transport
- Water-resistant
- Specialized fabric sheet is durable, washable and easy to use
- Includes a Bluetooth-enabled smart remote control that can be placed within reach of the wheelchair user (or attached to the handles or back of the wheelchair for caregiver use) that provides alerts to reposition and monitors the frequency of repositions throughout the day, giving caregivers data to compare the user’s actual movement to recommended guidelines for the prevention of pressure ulcers.
