About this Event

Over two days the Fuel Poverty Research Network (FPRN) is bringing together people who are undertaking research, developing policies and programmes, and working directly with vulnerable communities experiencing or facing fuel poverty challenges. This is an in-person conference, with an option to attend online*.

Attend this event to:

  • Get the latest on fuel poverty initiatives in Greater Manchester and beyond.
  • Learn from researchers at the forefront of energy research.
  • Hear about case studies from around the world.
  • Discuss future directions for research, policy, and practice and explore ways to enhance the interface and knowledge translation between them.
  • Hear about brand new research funded by FPRN.
  • Be part of a lively community working on energy and justice.
  • Apply to present your own ‘lightning talk’**.

The programme is currently being finalised. The following are confirmed:

  • The latest from research projects in Greater Manchester and internationally.
  • Energy House 2.0 Laboratories, including a tour of the facility
  • Greater Manchester Combined Authority
  • Manchester Friends of the Earth on their Warm Homes campaign
  • Fuel Poverty Action
  • Carbon Coop, on supporting retrofit in the area
  • Community Energy for Solidarity
  • Brand new research funded by FPRN (our Engaging in Energy Poverty in Early Career programme)
  • Lightning talks from delegates**.
  • Monday evening social

We need to charge a modest cost to cover catering. Please note that this does not include the Monday evening social. We have kept this low and provided a reduced rate for students and those on low-incomes. Online attendance is free.

*We are able to offer a basic level of online attendance. Online attendees will be able to see speakers slides, hear audio from the room, and ask questions.

**A lightning talk is a short presentation (5 - 10 minutes) on latest research or other activities (e.g. a community project, a local authority initiative). All delegates are welcome to submit an idea for a lightning talk. You can indicate at registration that you are interested. We plan to have a lightning talks session on each day.

The Fuel Poverty Poverty Research Network is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation registered in England and Wales: 1185345. More information at www.fuelpovertyresearch.net. This event is hosted and organised with the University of Salford.
