Celebrate the return of the sun with sun salutations! Erin will lead participants through 108 sun salutations, but donβt worry- you donβt have to do all 108!Why 108? According to ancient yogis 108 as a number represents the wholeness of existence. This number also connects the Sun, Moon, and Earth. The average distance of the Sun and the Moon to Earth is 108 times their respective diameters. Such phenomena have given rise to many examples of ritual significance, one being the offering of 108 Sun Salutations on the Winter Solstice.
The session will start with a brief warm up. Sun Salutations will be completed in 9 rounds of 12, a cool down, and then a long savasana. Challenge yourself by trying to complete all 108, or feel free to drop in and out as you wish. Modifications will also be offered.
This practice will leave you feeling grounded and centered as it is an opportunity to connect to a sense of ritual, transformation, and renewal of one's own consciousness.
