About this Event
The programme of workshops is called INKLUSIVE and will alternate writing and illustration sessions. Inklusive is a monthly meet-up held on the last Thursday of every month.
We hope to involve mainly neurodivergent people and all people who generally find it hard to communicate and express their thoughts.
The aim is to create an illustrated zine and a mini portfolio of creative writing where participants share their art and words without barriers.
Comic book artist and Illustrator, Gereth Oddie, will run the first session of our INKlusive programme: "SILENT COMICS - Strip the strips from text to let the drawings do the talking".
A ‘silent comic’ is a comic without any words, either as captions or in speech bubbles.
"Where verbal text may serve to create boundaries, images can be translated across different cultures and neurotypes , opening up circuits of mutuality and exchange.” Irene Gammel, Canada Research Chair in Modern Literature and Culture and professor of English at Ryerson University.
