About this Event
Initial Cervical Screening Sample Taker Training – face-to-face attendance

Location: Castle Hill Community Centre, Highfield Road, Ipswich, IP1 6DG.

Time: 09:30 – 16:30 each day

This course is for staff working in Suffolk & North East Essex wishing to learn how to take cervical screening samples in primary care. It covers all the required elements to become registered as a qualified cervical screening sample taker with the CSTD (Cervical Sample Taker Database) with the NNUH Laboratory.

The course is aimed at registered nurses, midwives and registered nursing associates (please contact us if you are in your training status or fall outside of these criteria but feel you may still be eligible).

The training pathway will cover:

• directed pre-course reading (approximately 3 hours prior to the training dates)

• initial theory learning (12 hours, including 3 hours practical element)

• a visit to colposcopy & the cytology laboratory – organised by the trainee

• undertake observed, directly supervised and unsupervised samples

• a series of assessments and portfolio work

• external assessment (provided by the training provider – Suffolk GP Federation)

• submission of the completed training record (verified by the trainee, mentor, assessor and training provider)

Once your ticket is secured via Eventbrite you will receive a detailed booking form for prompt completion, without this we cannot accept your place on the course, as these assess your eligibility to undertake the training course.

Please only attend at the start time indicated you will not be permitted entry to the room until the start time. If you are more than 10 minutes late you may be asked to rebook and there will be a charge made.
