About this Event

Inflight Meals for Sustainable Cities:
Designing Sustainable, Equitable, Intelligent, and Investable Infrastructure in Food Systems

How can the integration of multi intelligence and sustainable farming practices not only redefine the in-flight meal experience but also pave the way for a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable urban food ecosystem?

Join us for an event to explore the nexus of urban development, food, and mobility, this event delves into the innovative integration of inflight meals within the broader context of sustainable cities. The project leverages sustainable practices such as vertical farming and hydroponics, alongside AI and data analytics, to revolutionize food sourcing, preparation, and delivery in air travel. This project seeks not only to enhance the passenger experience but also to contribute significantly to local economies, reduce environmental impacts, and ensure equitable access to nutritious food.

In parallel we will delve into the evolving landscape of “Embedded Finance for Cashless Society” and its potential to transform economic activities into a seamless experience, this project explores how we can leverage technology to move to a cashless society that embodies sustainability, equity, intelligence, and investment potential. Through this event we will navigate through the intricacies of embedded finance, envisioning a future where financial systems are not just tools for transactions but catalysts for societal progress and inclusion.

Through presentations, an exhibition, and discussions led by participants of the Institute of Design's Sustainable Solutions Workshop, attendees will get an insider's look at innovative projects that envision a future where equitable food access and healthier society are a given. Join us for a session designed to present strategic thinking in the pursuit of sustainable and equitable food systems within urban environments.

About the Institute of Design (ID):

The Institute of Design (ID) at Illinois Tech was founded in Chicago by Bauhaus émigré László Moholy-Nagy in 1937. It has since pioneered human-centered design, systems design, and a methods-based approach to design. Today, ID is home to the only US design school devoted completely to graduate students—the first US school to offer a PhD in design. Uniting science and rigor with creativity and rapid iteration, ID focuses on the systems that shape modern life (including cities, education, finance, food, healthcare, and technology) and building new worlds from them, together.
