Join Shelf Life Books for Industry Night #7, our series of panel discussions on writing, publishing, and all things books! Each event will feature several panelists and an expert moderator/host. April is National Poetry Month and to celebrate, we've put together a panel of poets and creative leaders from Calgary & Alberta for our Poet Laureate Panel.
The Poet Laureate is an artistic ambassador, presenting at civic events, and producing literary works that reflect the city and its citizens. An ambassador of the arts to the citizens, Poet Laureates produce literary work that is reflective of the landscape, cityscape and civic identity and that may raise awareness of local issues.
The Calgary Poet Laureate position was established on July 26, 2011. It is a testament to the city’s commitment to the arts, supported by dedicated Calgary Poet Laureate Ambassadors, the Calgary Foundation and the Calgary Public Library.
The panelists will be derek beaulieu, Heather Jean Jordan, and Shone Thistle. More information on our panelists to follow.
