The Florida Industrial Pretreatment Association (FIPA) conducts training courses and exams for voluntary certifications in Industrial Pretreatment and Fats, Oils & Grease Management. Courses are open to industrial pretreatment professionals, laboratory personnel, and water/wastewater operators. By completing a 2-day course, an individual may earn 1.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) issued through accredited organizations for their Florida wastewater or water operator license.
Industrial Pretreatment “B” Level (Intermediate) Course
The intermediate industrial pretreatment course covers distinguishing between industrial user groups, the permitting process, inspection procedures, pretreatment processes, introduction to local limits, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, introduction to enforcement and data management.
Required minimum qualifications for Industrial Pretreatment B voluntary certification:
1. Must have Industrial Pretreatment "C" level certification through FIPA or FWPCOA
2. Must have accumulated 2 years of experience in industrial pretreatment
3. Must successfully complete the Industrial Pretreatment "B" course through FIPA or FWPCOA
4. Must achieve a grade of 70% or greater on the "B" course certification exam
