The Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame recognizes the best of the best at this annual event, where the newest class of inductees are enshrined.
About this Event

The highlight of the Nova Scotia sport event calendar, Induction Night celebrates athletic excellence in our province. Host Bruce Rainnie, Hall of Fame CEO and CBC broadcaster, will welcome the 2024 inductees to their place of honour in the Hall of Fame with candid on-stage interviews, video tributes, and award presentations. This event is always inspiring and heartwarming. Join us in congratulating the newest Hall of Famers and learning their incredible stories. The 2024 inductees who will be honoured at this event are:

Jamie Bone, Football, Halifax: Back-to-back Vanier Cup winning quarterback (1976, 1977) with the Western Ontario Mustangs, first Canadian quarterback ever signed to an NFL contract

Kirk Johnson, Boxing, North Preston: Five-time Canadian Amateur Heavyweight Champion and former Junior World Amateur Heavyweight Champion, Olympian

Dwayne Provo, Football, North Preston: All-Conference defensive back for Saint Mary’s University, played eight years in the CFL

Leslie-Anne Young, Paddling, Sackville: Olympian, five-time National Championship gold medalist

1990 Acadia Axewomen Soccer Team: The first Atlantic-based university team ever to win a CIAU Women’s Soccer title. Team Members: (Players:) Bridget Anakin, Kim Hill, Kyran Kennedy, Amber MacDonald (MacNeil), Marlee MacDonald, Kim MacQuarrie, Cathy McAuley, Andrea Milne, Denise Payne (Aucoin), Kirsten Pinfold, Susan Power, Dara Ramirez (Moore), Claire Sarginson, June Saunders, Jodie Silk, Heidi Stanish, Marjean Szura (Leighton), Alison Tuton, Cindy Tye (Montgomerie), Wendi Wells (Coaches:) Janice Cossar, Laura Sanders (Therapists:) Sheri Cunningham, Nancy Witty (Manager:) Angela Fraser

Dr. Christina Atkinson, Sport Medicine, Shelburne: Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the Professional Women’s Hockey League, Team Physician for the gold-medal-winning Canadian National Women’s Hockey Team at the 2022 Olympics

Danny Flynn, Hockey, Dartmouth: The only Nova Scotia-born hockey coach to have won a World Junior Championship, Memorial Cup, and CIS National Championship

Doors will open at 5:30pm, ceremony starts promptly at 7pm. Reception will follow from 8:45 to 10pm, giving attendees a chance to mingle with inductees. Please note that this event is not a dinner. There will be a cash bar available.

Please note that this event will be broadcast live by Eastlink Community TV.
