Two-Time GRAMMY® Award winners Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer will be performing live on Sunday, October 13. The concert, set to begin at 7:00 PM, will showcase the duo's extraordinary musical talents, including their superb harmonies and instrumental virtuosity on guitar, five-string banjo, ukulele, mandolin, cello-banjo, and more. Tickets for the concert are priced at $20, with RSVP required.
Prior to the concert, Cathy and Marcy will be offering two free workshops from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, where attendees can learn from these master musicians. While attendance is free, an RSVP is encouraged to secure your spot.
Workshop Details:
• Right Hand Drills for Solid Clawhammer Playing:
Cathy Fink will guide participants through a systematic approach to right-hand drills, focusing on improving accuracy, tone, and timing. This hands-on workshop is ideal for banjo players looking to enhance their right-hand technique.
• Ukulele in Old Time Music:
Marcy Marxer will demonstrate how the ukulele can serve as an excellent rhythm instrument in old-time music. Attendees will learn both right and left-hand techniques to seamlessly fit into a jam session, along with a version of "Shady Grove" featuring modal sounds and chords.
Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer have been a dynamic force in the music world for over 35 years, performing at numerous bluegrass and folk festivals and teaching at nearly 100 music camps worldwide. Their repertoire spans various genres, including classic country, western swing, gypsy jazz, bluegrass, and contemporary folk.
