Explore the wonders of Indigo dyeing and various resist techniques for design elements during this one day mini retreat at The Studio at Simple Hill Farm! This retreat is a day of play and creativity in the midst of cold winter months. During this workshop we will build an indigo vat, apply resist techniques to 4 different pieces of cloth and dye in our indigo vat. Indigo is a unique plant dye that requires a whole different process than other plant dyes. By the end of the retreat, you will have a better understanding of the chemistry of an indigo vat, a recipe to build your own vat, plus a cloth napkin, bandana and 2 fat quarters beautifully dyed indigo blue with a nice white pattern! If the weather permits, we can even visit the merino sheep on our farm, if desired. Tea, coffee and snacks provided. Bring your own lunch.Saturday February 22, 2025 9:00am-3:00pm
