About this Event
Indigo dyeing began in India 3,000 BCE. It spread through the Silk Road to Greece and Rome as a luxury good. Blue colorants were rare and very valuable. It had spread to China and Japan by the 6th century.
Now indigo dyeing is coming to West Edge on November 8 for an afternoon workshop. You will learn how to set up a vat. We will dye a silk scarf and a cotton scarf. We are using Living Blue indigo grown in Bangalsesh on small farms and will use an earth friendly recipe.
