Fort Edmonton Park invites you to explore the diversity of First Nations and Métis peoples at the Indigenous Peoples Experience.
The award-winning exhibit explores the rich and beautiful cultures of First Nations and Métis Peoples while encouraging visitors to seek out the truths as lived by Indigenous Peoples in Treaty 6.

Throughout the fall and winter season, we’re offering special feature workshops at the Indigenous Peoples Experience. These are opportunities to deepen your understanding of First Nations and Métis cultures through interactive and educational sessions.

Sound Medicine & Meditation: (Mikwan Energy Works)
Time: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Host: June Palmer
What to Expect: Step into your healing journey guided by Indigenous wisdom, sound, and spirit. Reconnect with your true self through sacred medicine and intuitive insight.
Let Mikwan guide you into a deep meditative state where you drift off on a journey to wellness through sound.

Ribbon Skirt Teachings
Time: 1:00 -2:00 PM
Host: Veronica Mcrae (The Good Place)
What to Expect: To acknowledge National Truth and Reconciliation, visitors of the Fort Edmonton Park Indigenous Experience are welcome to join a 60-minute presentation and an interactive craft. Presented by the founder of The Good Place, Veronica McRae will share the healing power of the ribbon skirt with her own personal journey. Following this presentation, visitors will have an opportunity to create their own ribbon lapel pin in honour of September 30th.

Inuit Teachings and Soapstone Carving
Time: 10:30 AM -12:00 PM and 12:30 - 2:00 PM
Host: Tracy Alikamik
What to Expect: We welcome Tracy Alikamik and Brenda Egotak to Fort Edmonton Park as we learn about Inuit history and culture. You will get a chance to make your own soapstone carving and play traditional Inuit games. Come join us as we learn about Inuit customs, Sedna, the Inuit sea goddess and different inuksuk meanings.
Spaces will be limited; advanced booking is encouraged.
