India's first hydrogen train will run on the Jind to Sonipat route in Haryana, marking a significant step towards sustainable transportation. This eco-friendly train is expected to begin trial operations in December 2024, making India the fifth country to deploy hydrogen-powered trains. The train's hydrogen supply will come from a 1-megawatt Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM) electrolyser located in Jind, producing around 430 kg of hydrogen daily. The refueling infrastructure at Jind will include a 3,000 kg hydrogen storage unit, a hydrogen compressor, and two hydrogen dispensers integrated with a pre-cooler, ensuring efficient refueling of the trains.
