World Usability Day 2025

World Usability Day is single day of events occurring around the world that brings together communities of professional, industrial, educational, citizen, and government groups for our common objective: to ensure that the services and products important to life are easier to access and simpler to use.

It is about celebration and education—celebrating the strides we have made in creating usable products and educating the masses about how usability impacts our daily lives. It is about making our world work better. It is about reaching out to the common citizen and spreading the message: We don’t have to put up with products and services that don’t work well and that human error is a misnomer.

No one should have to suffer through products and services that get in their way. People should not be made to feel stupid by technology.

How to make UX matter in places where it isn’t expected?

What does it take to make design matter in environments not traditionally shaped by UX? Vinni shares lessons from being the first UX hire (twice), on building trust, creating small wins, and turning imperfect projects into influence.

UX isn’t always invited in at the right time, or at all. As a two-time first UX hire: first at GreyB Research, a dev-heavy IP and tech company, and now at The Heritage Group (THG), a global enterprise, Vinni has built a UX practice in very different contexts.

At GreyB, she introduced design into an engineering-driven culture, while at THG, she’s bringing UX into everyday employee operations and enterprise-wide digital initiatives.

Reflecting on her projects, she shares how imperfect projects can become stepping stones for building UX influence.

Attendees will leave with practical strategies for earning trust, working with constraints, and turning research into decisions that teams actually act on.

Vandana (Vinni) Munjal is a UX Designer and Strategist at The Heritage Group with 9+ years of experience embedding UX into organizations not traditionally shaped by design.

She focuses on building research operations, applying systems thinking, and helping design take root. Her work is grounded in making design useful and visible, not only for end-users, but for the teams and organizations that are learning to embrace it.

Off-screen, you’ll find her soaked in nature or experimenting with new art forms - her latest creative detour is pottery.
