About this Event
The Indian Removal Act of 1830 narrowly passed Congress. This legislation removed the Five Civilized Tribes from the lush lands of the American South to Indian Territory. Indian Territory subsequently was dissolved into the State of Oklahoma(Choctaw for Red Peoples Land). This lecture/conversation will explore the devices used to exact this infrequently discussed time in US history.
