Independent Bookstore Day was initiated in 2013 with the aim of promoting and celebrating the significance of independent bookstores. Since its inception, this special day has been commemorated annually on the last Saturday of April. This year, more than 1,200 bookstores across the nation are taking part in the festivities.The event is coordinated by the American Booksellers Association, a national non-profit trade organization dedicated to supporting booksellers and industry collaborators. Their mission is to enhance the success and sustainability of independently owned bookstores while fostering a vibrant community centered around literature.
