Join us for an old-fashioned Independence Day Celebration on July 4! There’ll be fun for the whole family all day long. Here’s the schedule:
9:00 am: Stuhr Museum opens – be sure to check out our summer exhibit, “On the Homefront: WWII in Nebraska” in the Stuhr Building!
10:00 am: German Language Church Service, provided by the Hall County Historical Society; Railroad Town opens
12:00 pm: Anvil Firing at the parking lot near the church
2:00 pm: A ‘mammoth’ parade down Front Street in Railroad Town accompanied by the Silver Cornet Band. *Children are invited to join in the parade! Meet at the Glade Mill to pick up your very own American flag to wave and keep and enter into the lineup!
Following the parade, the band will play a few more songs and we’ll have a patriotic program with some of Railroad Town’s own dignitaries delivering orations
At the conclusion of the program, we’ll have some games on the green and a cherry pie eating contest sponsored by our friends at Perkins Restaurant & Bakery
5:00 pm: Stuhr Museum closes (just in time for you to get home for a cookout and fireworks!)
The Silver Dollar in Railroad Town will be serving lunch, cold drinks, ice cream and more all day long! We encourage you to bring lawn chairs or a blanket for the parade and program.
Admission fees for July 4th are as follows:
Public/Non-members: $14 for adults, $13 for seniors, $12 for youth ages 6-12 and free for ages 5 & under
Stuhr Museum members and Hastings Museum members get in free!
Blue Star Families get in free! (For active duty military personnel and their immediate families)
Museums for All – $3 admission for ages 6-adult when you show your SNAP or WIC card at the gate. This program is an initiative of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, working to remove barriers to cultural institutions for families receiving food assistance.
Stuhr Museum memberships are available online or can be purchased on July 4.
