The series is designed to help support inclusivity in paddlesports through highlighting the work of our Paddle Scotland Equality Groups. Whether you are a club member, on a club committee, interested in becoming a course provider or just a paddler looking to build knowledge and understanding of how to share the joy of paddlesports this webinar series offers a great opportunity to hear from the Equality Groups!
This webinar will be delivered by the Paddle Scotland Accessible Paddling Equality Group, supported by Development Manager Roger Holmes.
This session is delivered by Roger Holmes. Roger is one of our four Development Managers working for Paddle Scotland. He started Paddling around 30 years ago with venture scouts, and became a coach and leader after his kids took up slalom with Breadalbane Canoe Club. He enjoys both canoeing and kayaking, paddling as often as possible in the local area. He is passionate about helping make paddlesport as accessible as possible.
Payment?
Our webinars are available on a 'pay as you please' approach - choosing from £5, £10, £15. Paddle Scotland Members can also choose to book free. We don't want cost to be a barrier to your taking part, but we are also grateful if members who can afford to contribute, do so to contribute to costs of running the courses (e.g. tutor time).
What is a virtual classroom?
A virtual classroom is an online learning environment, which is interactive and you can access if form the comfort of your own home. You can see and talk live to the course/workshop presenters, other participants, ask questions and view slides / video content. This workshop will be delivered in the virtual classroom in an interactive style, similar in style and content as if you attended a face-to-face workshop. Webcam is optional!
The presenters will lead you through the learning outcomes, providing information, facilitating discussions for the whole group and managing small breakout groups (if applicable).
Some webinar sessions will be recorded, only the presentation and the person speaking will be visible in the recording, not the audience. If you wish to speak in the webinar but do not want to appear on the recording, please feel free to use the chat box or switch your camera off.
How does it work?
You will need access to a computer (desktop/laptop) or a tablet and a good internet connection; some smartphones can also connect. Once you have booked onto this workshop you will receive a confirmation email with joining instructions that contains a web link that you click; which will allow you to enter the virtual classroom and join the workshop on the day at the time detailed above. The confirmation email will also include a contact number for the presenter/moderator should you have any issues on the day/time. If you have not used Google Meet before, please join a few minutes early to test your audio and visual settings are working correctly.
