Join us for the inauguration concert of the newly formed Fryderyk Chopin Institute of Ohio, and celebrate Thanksgiving with the timeless music of Chopin accompanied by a live orchestra! Led by Maestro Grzegorz Nowak, Music Director of Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and Permanent Associate Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, this special program features piano concertos that celebrate Warsaw, the city that profoundly shaped Chopin’s early life and music. The centerpiece of the concert is Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Minor. He composed and premiered the work in 1830 at the culmination of his youth. Shortly after, Chopin left Poland for Paris. He began working on a third concerto, hoping to perform it in a free Poland. Unfortunately, the failed uprising in Poland resulted in his inability to return. As a result, he never completed this concerto and only published a fragment as a solo work titled Allegro de Concert. Binienda’s orchestration brings Chopin’s vision for a concerto to life. Finally, Addinsell’s Warsaw Concerto, written for the 1942 British film Dangerous Moonlight, pays homage to the Polish resistance during the 1939 Nazi German invasion. It also represents the romance between the leading characters of the film.
We look forward to the exciting opportunities our new organization will bring to the community. Please join us to celebrate this very special occasion!
