About Professor Robertson's research:
Professor Kirsten Robertson draws on psychology, public health, and marketing to address pressing societal challenges and improve well-being. Her research has informed public health practitioners and policy debates on issues including support for caregivers of a person with dementia, understanding and addressing partner violence, and the regulation of recreational cannabis, alcohol, and therapeutic products.
She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Education (1997), Master of Science in Psychology (2000), and PhD (2006), all at the University of Otago. Over a 25-year career, she has lectured across multiple divisions, including Psychology, Psychological Medicine, Oral Sciences, and Marketing, and supervised more than thirty research students, many of whom have gone on to academic careers.
Professor Robertson has published widely in high-impact international journals, collaborated with researchers globally, and contributed to the community through public talks, media engagement, and board service.
She has held numerous leadership roles within and beyond the University, including Head of the Department of Marketing, Associate Dean Research (Commerce), Chair of Alzheimers Otago, and is currently Deputy Director of Te Maea Research Theme.
