About this Event

Leading for a continuous supply of workforce for the NHS in England

Professor Layland has been leading on an effective approach for the new supply of workforce to the NHS, as part of designing the new NHS England from April 2023. Professor Laylands inaugural professorial lecture will explore the levers and levels which impact on the workforce in the NHS, and outline key considerations to be taken to ensure the NHS has the right staff for the right patients.

Biography:

Adam joined the NHS in 2005 as a Community First Responder, before becoming a Paramedic in 2008. Throughout his career Adam has remained a Paramedic first and foremost, but has developed into a senior leader across the NHS. His career has taken him through various senior roles in operational management, transformation, academia, research, commercial, innovation, enterprise, and strategic leadership. In 2020 Adam was honoured with a Visiting Professorship in Leadership and Management from York St John University, and the University of Chichester bestowed Adam a Visiting Professorship for Healthcare in October 2021. Adam is the Head of Education Commissioning for the NHS in England working across the country with a £5b budget to ensure the NHS has a workforce with the right skills and right behaviours to meet patient and population healthcare needs.

This event will draw to a close at 7.00pm and will be followed by a drinks reception from 7.00pm - 7.45pm for all those attending.
