Basketball Tournament to Honor Local Father Lost to Cancer — Benefiting: Connecticut Children’s Cancer Center & YMCA LIVESTRONG® ProgramHartford, CT On Saturday, October 4, from 12:00 PM – 4:30 PM, the Wilson-Gray YMCA will host the James Green Foundation Basketball Tournament, a community event honoring Hartford native James Green, who passed away from osteosarcoma at just 27 years old.This event, organized by the James Green Foundation in partnership with the Wilson-Gray YMCA and Connecticut Children’s Foundation, will benefit the Connecticut Children’s Cancer Center and the YMCA’s LIVESTRONG® program, which provides free wellness support to adult cancer survivors.“This tournament is about more than basketball, it’s about community, hope, and honoring James’s legacy,” said Michael Mitchell, James’s brother and event organizer. “James was a proud father, a talented musician, and a passionate basketball player. Now, we’re channeling that energy into helping others.”The tournament will feature community teams, family activities, food, music, and opportunities to learn more about cancer support programs in Connecticut.
