The inaugural Jacksonville Civil Rights Conference, August 25-27, 2022, will transform the way you think about Civil Rights movements and empower all ages and backgrounds to embrace their role in building racial equity.
This first-of-its-kind conference will bridge historic and contemporary Civil Rights movements by connecting history, community, arts and culture, and multi-generational partnerships in ways that activate the socio-political imagination and move humanity forward.
The conference will feature powerful keynote speakers; an official commemoration of Ax Handle Saturday; thought-provoking educational breakout conversations led by national experts; emotional visual and performing arts; and much more. Vaccination is recommended. Virtual attendance is available.
The schedule and speaker information are available here: jaxcivilrightsconf.org
The inaugural Jacksonville Civil Rights Conference was conceptualized by Rodney L. Hurst Sr. and is led by Hurst, LIFE (Leadership is for Everyone, Inc.) and United Way of Northeast Florida. Additional partners include Chris Janson of The Proximity People LLC, Hope McMath of Yellow House and Tan Mayhew of Journey2Joy Events.
