Benson Theatre's In the Pocket with Tim Clark presents JOHNNY BRITT!Johnny Britt's musical journey began in Cleveland, Ohio. Britt picked up the trumpet at age 12 and excelled rapidly. In junior high school he would become friends and start a band with the then drummer Arsenio Hall.
The youngest ever musical director for the super group The Temptations Britt was discovered by the legendary founder of The Temptations Otis Williams. This led Britt to become the co music producer along with Dan Carlin for the Emmy Award Winning TEMPTATIONS MINISERIES MOVIE. Britt has an on camera feature as a solo trumpet player in the Oscar Nominated Movie LA LA LAND.
Britt worked with renowned composer Hans Zimmer as the featured trumpet soloist in the Oscar Nominated Motion Picture HIDDEN FIGURES and Dunkirk. Britt studied trumpet at The Conservatoire de Versailles just outside Paris, France with Roger Delmotte first trumpeter for the Paris Opera. Britt also received a National Endowment of the Arts Scholarship Award to study with renowned jazz trumpeter Richard Williams. Britt received his bachelors degree in music at Governors State University where he received the Gerald Myrow Award for Outstanding Composer.
Britt as worked with in the studio or live onstage with: Qunicy Jones, Annie Lennox, Harry Styles, David Bowie, Luther Vandross, Elton John, Maxwell, Josh Groban, The Temptations, Peabo Bryson, David Lee Roth, Ray Parker Jr. and Little Anthony and The Imperials where currently Britt sings 1st Tenor with the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Group.
