Three of our favorite creatives—writer and illustrator Jon Klassen, designer Donna Wilson, and author and bookstore owner Emma Straub—join forces for a special conversation about all things bear, turtle, and beyond!
You all know Jon Klassen's beloved books I Want My Hat Back, The Rock from the Sky, and more, but did you know that his animal protagonists have been brought to life? Our favorite bear, turtle, and snake were created by designer Donna Wilson!
After the conversation, grab signed copies of Jon's newest trio of board books: Your Farm, Your Forest, and Your Island!
Jon Klassen is the creator of the #1 New York Times best-selling I Want My Hat Back, which won a Theodor Seuss Geisel Honor, and its companions This Is Not My Hat, which won a Caldecott Medal and a Kate Greenaway Medal, and We Found a Hat, named a Publishers Weekly Best Children’s Book of the Year. He is also the author and illustrator of The Rock from the Sky and The Skull, and the illustrator of Extra Yarn, Sam and Dave Dig a Hole, Triangle, Square, and Circle, all by Mac Barnett. Originally from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Jon Klassen now lives in Los Angeles.
Donna Wilson has been designing colourful knitted products in her East London studio since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2003. Here, her team of creative women design, knit, sew, pack and ship her products to devoted design enthusiasts, collectors and the young at heart, all over the world. As a pioneer of the blooming contemporary craft movement, Donna remains true to her principle of designing timeless, high-quality objects to brighten your wardrobe and your home, across textiles, ceramics, furniture, towels and knitwear.
Emma Straub is the New York Times-bestselling author of the novels This Time Tomorrow, The Vacationers, Modern Lovers, and We're All Adults Here, and the picture books Very Good Hats, Gaga Mistake Day, and Mama Hug. She and her husband own Books Are Magic, two independent bookstores in Brooklyn, New York.
