"Inspirar" (latin) - To breath or to blow into "Inspire" (english) - to influence, to move, to guide, to draw forth, to spur on and to INHALE
As the name suggests, the theme of this dance workshop is inspiration. I will be weaving in exploration around breathing (connected to the words latin roots) as well as inquiry around what inspires us.
My hope is that you will leave this workshop with more connection and presence to your breath (a channel for Prana in the vedic sciences), with tools for dance improvisation, with education around the anatomy of breathing, as well as for your inner flame of inspiration to be blazing with fervor and excitement. Here is to the potency of breath and inspiration to keep us alive and vital.
In this workshop, we will be:
-Sensing into and moving with the flow of air that enters us, permeates within us (all the way to a cellular level), and finds its way back out into our surroundings.
-Explore the element of air and our relationship to it; finding imagery and metaphors to influence creative improvisation (moving both solo and with partners).
- Exploring what inspires us, stocking the flames of our visions through breath and movement.
-Looking at the anatomy of the lungs and breathing and how this imagery or study could translate to movement.

This is NOT a contact improv workshop though of course this research will apply to all the movement in your life.
