About this Event

Join us for a free day of learning! Tri-County is excited to offer Youth MHFA, the nationally recognized, evidence-based training, to help equip our community to support youth struggling with mental health or substance use challenges.

Through interactive instruction and hands-on activities, we hope it'll increase your confidence to respond and ability to offer meaningful support to others.

The training covers common mental health and substance use challenges in youth—such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and ADHD—and introduces a practical 5-step action plan to guide your response in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

**Please note: This training includes a short pre-course survey to be completed in our Connect learning platform prior to the in person instructor-led session. The instructor will send out information on this about 2 weeks prior to the in person instructor led session.

**Please note: We require a minimun of 5 participants to conduct the training.

What You’ll Gain

  • Practical skills to recognize and respond to mental health or substance use challenges in adults
  • Resources in our community for referrals and ongoing support
  • Self-care tools for the MHFAider
  • 6.5 hours of continuing education credits (school district staff get double CPEs for in person YMHFA!)

Certifications & CEUs

Upon completion, this session qualifies for continuing education units (CEUs) and professional certifications:

  • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA): 3-year certification | 6.5 CEUs

To request your certificate and CEU supporting documents, please email us after attending the training.

About Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training that teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health or substance use challenges using a 5-step action plan (ALGEE) to guide you through how to assess risk, listen without judgment, and connect someone to professional help. MHFA helps you build the confidence to step in when someone may be struggling. Scenarios and exercises make the learning practical, so you leave ready to help in real-life situations.
